||Funeral services for the late Joseph Forgas, who expired Monday at his home in Brownstown, were held there this morning at St. Michael's Catholic Church by the rector, the Rev. Father Mathias Pfeil, assisted by six acolytes. The services were largely attended. Mr. Forgas was one of the oldest members of the First Catholic Slovak Band. The organization attended the services this morning and played a dirge from the church to Lower Yoder Cemetery, where interment was made.
The music at the church was in charge of Mrs. Bernard Ream. The choir was composed of the boys of the parochial school identified with the parish. Messrs. Stephen Pentrack, sr., Edward Pentrack, Albert Riek, Ignatius Riek, George Wyar and George Kurtz served as pall bearers.
The deceased was born in Slavonia in 1866 and was engaged there as a miner in 1878, when he crossed the Atlantic, paying his passage and not coming to this country as a stow-away, as previously published. |
