SOURCE NOTATION:
Cambria Freeman, 04May1900, Contributed by Lisa Baker

Mrs. Edward Farabaugh of Carrolltown has received a dispatch from the War Department, at Washington, confirming the report of the death of her son—Edward Ebig—in the Philippine Islands March 16th. The dispatch gave no particulars as to how he met his death, but it is supposed it was on the field of battle, as there was severe fighting on that date.

Edward Ebig was a son of Mrs. Farabaugh by a former husband, and was well and favorably known throughout the northern part of the county. He was formerly a P.R.R. fireman at Altoona. Last fall he enlisted at Altoona in the forty-third infantry as a musician and was sent to the Philippines, where his regiment was stationed.

An effort will be made to have the body brought home for burial
