Remarks: | 2 Obits -- Same paper; same date Johnstown Tribune 30 Jan 1941 DENNIS WISSINGER OF WALNUT GROVE DIES IN 87TH YEAR Retired Carpenter Was Native of Johnstown; Services Saturday Dennis Wissinger, 86, one of the oldest residents of the Walnut Grove district, died at 6 o'clock this morning at his home at 1000 Bedford Street. He was taken ill about a week ago. Mr. Wissinger was born in Johnstown on September 1, 1854, and was well known as a carpenter, from which vocation he retired some years ago. His parents were Levi and Elizabeth (Wissinger) Wissinger. The deceased was twice married. His first wife, Ida (Horner) Wissinger, died on January 1, 1910. His second wife, Mrs. Mary (Luther) Wissinger, also preceded him in death. Surviving are two children, Mrs. W. W. Campbell of 996 Bedford Street, and Curtis Wissinger, both born to the first marriage. Mr. Wissinger also leaves nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and these brothers and sisters: Daniel Wissinger, Oakland; Cyrus Wissinger, Johnstown R. D. 2; Mrs. Jane Lehman, Hooversville; Mrs. Elmer Constable, Oakland, and Mrs. S. T. Blough, Wertz Road. Mr. Wissinger had been a member of St. John's Evangelical and Reformed Church for the past 45 years but in recent years became a member of and attended sessions of the Men's Bible Class of the Walnut Grove Church of the Brethren, situated near his home. Funeral services will be conducted at the Wissinger home at 2:30 o'clock Saturday afternoon by Rev. J. A. Robinson, pastor of the Walnut Grove church. Interment in Grandview Cemetery will be directed by Fred G. Geisel of Dale.
