|BROAD, Mrs., wife of Dr. J. G. Broad, died at her home in South fork on Saturday, July 12th, of sarcoma. She underwent a delicate operation at St. John's Hospital, Philadelphia, on November 26th, last year. |
The funeral took place on Tuesday from the South Fork United Evangelical Church, the Rev. J. Q. A. Curry, the pastor, conducting the services, assisted by the Rev. John W. Domer, Presiding Elder of the Johnstown district; the Rev. Frederick Ellenberger, of Dale Borough; the Rev. John Garner of the Seventeenth ward; the Rev. P. D. Steelsmith and the Rev. D. S. Poling, of South Fork. Music for the occasion was furnished by the church choir and a quartet.
Mrs. Broad was born in Lewisburg, Union County, December 5, 1866, and was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Chappell, now of South Fork. She and Dr. Broad were married at Lewisburg December 16, 1886, when they located at South Fork. The deceased is survived by her husband, parents, and the following brothers and sisters: Frank Chappell, Mrs. Harry Miller and Turner Chapell, of South Fork; Mrs. William Mackell, of Conemaugh; Charles Chappell, of Wilmore; Willie, John and Raymond, at home, and Miss Harriet, who had been Mrs. Broad's faithful attendant during her illness.
