Johnstowner Who Served in 11th Pennsylvania Cavalry Expires at Dayton Home.
Gabriel Mangus, a veteran of the Civil War, died Friday at the National Military Home, Dayton, O., where he had been making his home for about eight years. He was born in Somerset County in 1840 and worked for a long time for the Cambria Iron Company. Mr. Mangus served in Company G, 11th PA Cavalry. The deceased is survived by his widow, Mrs. Rebecca Berkey Mangus and a daughter, Mrs. Sue Mangus Stine, of 117 Horner Street; a son, William Mangus of the Seventh Ward; a sister, Mrs. Charles Elvin, of Oakmont, and stepson Elmer Grubb, of the Seventh Ward. The body arrived this morning from Dayton and was conveyed to the Mangus home by the John Henderson Company. The funeral will take place at 10 o'clock Wednesday morning, the services to be conducted by the Rev. G. W. Remch, of the Somerset Street Brethren Church. Burial will be made in Sandyvale Cemetery.
