|Josiah Helsel, one of the best-known residents of the southeastern section of Cambria County, died yesterday afternoon at his home in Scalp Level. The deceased, who was sixty-eight years of age, was a native Richland Township, where he resided the greater part of his life. he followed the occupation of a farmer until eleven years ago, when he retired and moved to Scalp, where he had resided since.|
The deceased was married in Richland Township, November 6, 1870, to Miss Louisa Gerhard. He is survived by two sons, Dr. W. L. Helsel and Josiah Helsel, both of Scalp Level. Jonathan Helsel, of Elton, and Emanuel Helsel, of Bedford County, are surviving brothers, while Mrs. Mary Schmidt, of Akron, O., is a sister.
Brief funeral services will be conducted at the late home of the deceased at 1 o’clock to-morrow afternoon, after which the remains will be taken to the Lutheran Church at Elton, where services will be in charge of the Rev. D. S. Hafer. Interment will be made in the Dunmyre Cemetery.
