Man Killed

A most melancholy accident, resulting in the death of a man named Biglen occurred near Cresson this county one day last week. The unfortunate man, it appears, had been in attendance upon a ball at No. 4 and returning home there from along the line of the railroad he fell or laid down on the track. Owing to over indulgence in intoxicating liquors he was unable to perceive his danger, at all events, he remained where he fell until a freight train coming along, he was struck by the cow catcher and horribly mangled. One of his legs was crushed from the extremity to above the knee and so badly injured that amputation was rendered necessary. All efforts to save him, however, were abortive. He lingered a day or so, when death put an end to his suffering. The deceased resided between Cressona and Gallitzin and is spoken of as having been a worthy man. Alas! that he should have put an enemy into his mouth to steal away - his life!
