|Miss Mary Ann Wherry, familiarly known about Ebensburg as "Aunt Mary," died at |
4:30 o'clock this morning at her home here. Miss Wherry was taken ill about ten days ago, when she contracted a severe cold. Her condition grew worse and death was directly due to bronchitis. Mary Ann Wherry was born in Bedford County, June 24, 1817, hence was past ninety years old. She was a daughter of William and Prudence Harbolt Wherry. From Bedford county the deceased moved with her parents to Blairsville, where they resided for five years after which they moved to the Hender farm located about one and one-half miles east of Ebensburg on the Pittsburg and Philadelpia pike. When Mary Ann was ten years old she moved here with her parents and had made Ebensburg her home ever since. She was the oldest of a family of ten Children. One sister, Amanda, wife of David J. Jones, of Westmont, Johnstown, and one brother, Silas M., of Ebensburg. Survive, Funeral service will be held at 1:30 o'clock Monday afternoon in the Presbyterian Church, where the sermon will be preached by the pastor, the Rev. Samuel G. Craig. Interment will be made in Lloyd Cemetery.
