Altoona, Feb. 14 -- John Baker, a well known resident of the city, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. William P. Sherry, 3930 Fifth avenue, at 8:45 o'clock last night of a complication of diseases. Mr. Baker was born in Germany March 6, 1841 and resided at St. Lawrence, Cambria County, for many years prior to coming to this city. He has resided here for the past 20 years and is a retired farmer. Mr. Baker is survived by the following children; Mrs. William P. Sherry, at whose home he died; Louis, George and F. J. all of Altoona; Sister Martina and Sister Delores, of the Benedictine Order, at Elizabeth, NJ; Sister Vincent DePaul, of the Sisters of Charity, Greensburg; M. C. of Pittsburg, and one brother, Charles, of St. Boniface, Cambria County. Funeral services will be announced later. Interment will be made in St. Lawrence Cemetery, Cambria County.
