|Johnstown Tribune, March 24, 1908|
Margaret Jane Pebley was born at Ryot, Bedford Co, PA June 20, 1862, and died at her late home 609 Highland Avenue, Seventeenth Ward on March 24, at 8:15. Mrs Pebley was the daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth Anders, deceased. She was united in marriage with Emanuel Pebley on April 5, 1894. She was converted and united with the Grove Ave M E Church during the pastorate of the Rev A. J Cook about thirteen years ago and lived an active, useful life in that church until her departure from this world.
Mrs. Pebley is survived by her husband Emanuel Pebley, her father Joseph Anders, her adopted daughter, Ada Pearl Pebley and her nephew J. Don Smith, who made his home with the Pebley family. She is also survived by the following brothers and sisters, Mrs Edward Hel.?.hue of Vandergrift; Mrs. Grant Young of 623 Cypress Avenue; Jacob Anders of Bedford Street; and Mrs. Howard Judy of 647 Park Avenue.
Funeral services were conducted in the Grove Ave ME Church on Thursday afternoon at 2:30 by her pastor the Rev. E H Greenlee, assisted by the Revs A. J. Cook and Scott E Winebrenner, former pastors of the deceased, and the Rev I S Peterson a retired minister of the M E Church. Probably such a large number of people never turned out in the Seventeenth Ward to pay the last tribute of respect to a departed friend. Mrs. Pebley was everyone's friend. She was cheerful in disposition, kind in manner and always ready to do anything within her power for anyone who needed her help. All who visited the Pebley home were treated so cordially that they were anxious to return again. It will be remembered that Mrs. Pebley was operated on for cancer last Oct during her long period of suffering she was patient and hopeful and left this world strong in expectation of finding a land where suffering is no more.
