Oliver Harrison McClain, aged 70 years, died this morning at 5:10 o'clock at the home of his son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Wilson L. McClain, 640 Linden Avenue, Moxham. Oliver H. McClain was born in Trough Creek Valley, Huntingdon County, November 21, 1852. He served a short time in the Union Army during the Civil War and was engaged in farming in Huntingdon County from the close of the war until 12 years ago, when he came to Johnstown. Mr. McClain and Miss Bella Beatty were married December 31, 1872, by the Rev. Mr. Mason and were planning to celebrate their golden wedding anniversary next month. Mrs. McClain survives her husband with three sons, William J. McClain, Superintendent of St. Luke's Hospital, Utica, N.Y.; Charles L. McClain, also of Utica, and Wilson L. McClain, of this city. Three daughters preceded him to the grave some years ago. Funeral services will be held in the Seventeenth Ward at 8 o'clock Wednesday evening by the Rev. G. K. Hetrick, pastor of the Moxham Evangelical Church, the body to be taken to Cassville, Huntingdon County, Thursday morning for burial in Odd Fellows Cemetery there. Mr. McClain was a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church, and was a faithful attendant at all the services until his health became impaired. Mr. McCain was a good neighbor and was highly esteemed by all who knew him. In addition to his widow and sons, Mr. McCain is survived by a grandson, Cloyd W. McClain of the Seventeenth Ward: two granddaughters, Louise and Geraldine McClain of Utica, N.Y., and a great-grandson, Elwood Wilson McClain, son of Cloyd W. and Lena (Kelly) McClain of 640 Linden Avenue.
