|Cambria-Born Nun Dies in Pittsburg |
Sister M. Leonard was Member of Pioneer Branch of the Old O'Hara Family
Sister M. Leonard, a member of the Order of Mercy, who died last week in the Mercy Hospital at Pittsburg, was one of four surviving children of the late Daniel O'Hara of Munster. Daniel O'Hara was one of the pioneer settlers of this section of Cambria and the head of the oldest branch of that well known family in the county. The only surviving member of the pioneer's family still living in the county is Michael O'Hara, who resides in Munster. A sister was the first wife of Patrick F. Brown, for years the proprietor of the Central Hotel at Ebensburg.
Sister M. Leonard, known in the world as Mary O'Hara, entered upon her religious career at the age of seventeen. Two sisters also became nuns and are still living, Sister M. Germaine, a teacher at St. Mary's Parochial school, Forty-sixth Street, Pittsburg, and Mother Mathilda of St. Xavier's Academy.
Sister M. Leonard, who was fifty-two years of age, had for many years been a teacher in the Academy on Fifth Avenue, Pittsburg and at St. Xavier's Academy, Beatty. Her funeral services were held Sunday morning at 9 o'clock. Interment took place at Beatty in the afternoon.
