GRIFFITH, Catharine (Davis)

|Mrs. Catharine Griffith, relict of Evan Griffith, a native of Ebensburg, died on Tuesday night at the home of her daughter — Mrs. Roller Baird — in Wilkingburg. She had been sick with pneumonia since last Saturday.|
Mrs. Griffith, who was about 72 years of age, was a daughter of William Davis, treasure of Cambria county in 1837. She was a sister of Prothonotary S. W. Davis and Lydia Evans, of Ebensburg, and Lemuel Davis, a Commissioner of McKean county. She was also a sister of Mrs. Griffith, wife of Sheriff Griffith, deceased.
Mrs. Griffith’s husband died at Lilly, about ten years ago. She is survived by the following daughters: Elizabeth, wife of William Baxster, of Red Oak, Ia.; Mollie, wife of J. G. Lloyd, of Ebensburg; Sarah, wife of John Shaffer, an employe of the P.R.R.; Martha, wife of Edward P. Kirbey, of Wilmore; Miss Millie, an employe in Gable’s store, Altoona; and Harriet, wife of Roller Baird, mentioned above. Mrs. Griffith was a cousin of Thomas Davis, a candidate for Assembly, and an aunt of Mr. Webster Griffith of Ebensburg.
The remains will be brought to Ebensburg on Friday morning and will be placed in the Congregational church, where Rev. J. Twyson Jones, the pastor, will conduct services at 11 o’clock. Interment will be made in Lloyd’s cemetery.
