Mr. Ulrich Leffler, one of Cambria County's stalwart Republicans, of Jackson Township, died at his home at 10:30 o'clock on Saturday morning, after an illness of two years of dropsy. He was born in Germany on May 16, 1824, and when about twelve years of age he was brought to this country by his parents, who have since died. From 1862 to 1874 he lived in Somerset County, in which county he was married in 1845 to Barbara Berg, of Friedensburg, Pa., who is still living. In 1874 he moved to Jackson Township, where he has lived ever since. Nine children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Leffler, three of whom are dead. The living are Mrs. Peter Stormer and Eli, of the Seventeenth Ward; Charles and Cyrus, of the Fourth Ward; Mrs. William Koffenberger, of the Ninth Ward; and Mrs. Josiah Thomas, of Conemaugh Township, Somerset County. The dead are Samuel, who died in the war in 1864; Mrs. Martin Greenwald, who was drowned May 31, 1889; and Sarah, who died when quite young. He was a member of the Evangelical Church, of Jackson Township. The funeral took plack [sic] at 10:30 o'clock this morning. Interment was made in Grand View.
