|Frederick K. Slagle, a veteran of the Civil War, died last evening at the Slagle home, Von Lunen Road, Dale, aged 86 years. His death was due to heart and kidney trouble. Funeral services will be held at the Slagle home on Wednesday afternoon by J.L. Miller, of the 7th ward, with burial in Grandview Cemetary. F.K. Slagle was born in Germany on May 20, 1834, and came to America 12 years latter. He settled in Jenners Cross Roads, Somerset County, where he enlisted in Company B, 148th Regiment, P.V.I., during the Civil War.|
For sometime following the war Mr. Slagle was engaged in business at Stantons Mills, Somerset County. Before coming to Johnstown 32 years ago, he and Miss Mary Rose were married at Davidsville on March 18, 1858 by Justice Peter Levy. Mrs. Slagle survives her husband, with these children: Lena, widow of J.J. Hoffman, who makes her home with her parents; W. N. Slagle of Slagle Street; Elizabeth, wife of S.H. Stahl; Ella, wife of J.H. Replogle, and Harry G. Slagle of Wilmington, Delware. Mrs. Harry Thomas, a daughter died 18 years ago; and two sons who died in infancy. Mr. Slagle is survived by two sisters, a brother, 10 grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren.
