FRANKLIN PLOTTS, MOXHAM, EXPIRES

Retired Printer and Advertising Man Was in His 85th Year

Franklin P. Plotts, retired Chicago printer and advertising man, died at 10 o’clock last night at the home of his sister, Ida R. Plotts of 908 Park Avenue, Moxham. He was in his 85th year. His demise terminated an illness of five weeks.

Mr. Plotts had been a resident of this city for the past 12 years. For many years he was in the employ of Chicago publishing companies in various capacities.

Born December 15, 1852, near Stroudsburg, Franklin Plotts was a son of the late Peter W. and Wilhelmina (Schmidt) Plotts.

In addition to the sister, at whose home he died, Mr. Plotts is survived by a brother, William Plotts of Anderson, Cal., and these half-sisters and half-brothers: Mrs. Joseph Cawthern of Highland Avenue, Mrs. J. D. Ripple of Oak Street, Mrs. John Mitchell of Cleveland, O.; Mrs. Ernest Stewart of Highland Avenue and Herbert Plotts of Cypress Avenue.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 o’clock Monday afternoon at the Plotts home by Rev. George R. Haden, pastor of the Grove Avenue Methodist Church. Interment in Grandview Cemetery will be directed by the John Henderson Company.

MISS IDA R. PLOTTS DIES FOUR DAYS AFTER BROTHER

Shock Believed Major Factor in Demise of Retired Instructor

HAD LONG CAREER

Miss Ida R. Plotts of 908 Park Avenue, well-known retired Johnstown school teacher, died yesterday afternoon, probably at 2:30 o’clock, brother, Franklin P. Plotts, 84, who also resided at the Moxham address, passed away.

Shock and nervous strain suffered at the time of her brother’s demise was attributed as the primary cause of Miss Plotts’ death. She attended funeral services, for her brother Monday afternoon and, although in a nervous condition, was able to be about her home afterwards.

The veteran instructor was stricken with a heart attack yesterday afternoon and passed away at 3:10 p.m.

Funeral Friday.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Plotts home Friday afternoon, probably at 2:30 o’clock, by Rev. George R. Haden, pastor of the Grove Avenue Methodist Church. Burial will take place in Grandview Cemetery, under the direction of the John Henderson Company.

Ida Plotts was born near Stroudsburg, Pa., a daughter of the late Rev. Peter W. and Wilhelmina (Schmidt) Plotts. Her father had served various Evangelical charges in this vicinity for a number of years.

The veteran instructor spent her early womanhood in Oil City, where she commenced teaching at the age of 18. Several years later she came to this city and became affiliated with the Johnstown public school system.

Woodvale Principal.

For a number of years Miss Plotts was principal of the Woodvale Grade School, later being transferred to the Osborn School. When Cochran Junior High School was first opened she was made a member of the faculty and remained at the Eight Ward institution until her retirement six years ago.

An active church worker, the retired teacher was a member of the Grove Avenue Methodist congregation. She was a member of the Board of Trustees and was superintendent of the elementary department of the Sunday school of the Moxham charge.

Miss Plotts is survived by a brother, William Plotts of Anderson, Cal., and these half-sisters and half-brothers: Mrs. J. D. Ripple of Oak Street, Mrs. Joseph Cawthern of Highland Avenue, Mrs. Ernest Stewart of Highland Avenue, Mrs. John Mitchell of Cleveland, O., and Herbert Plotts of Cypress Avenue.

The Moxham woman was preceded in death by four sisters and one brother–Mrs. George Wilcox, Mrs. William Wright, Mrs. James R. Kennedy, Mrs. R. S. Porter and Franklin P. Plotts.

Members of the Sunday School Board of the Grove Avenue congregation will go to the Plotts home in a body this evening after regular prayer services.

FUNERAL OF MRS. WALTHER

Funeral services for Mrs. Elizabeth Walther of 530 Sherman Street, who died yesterday afternoon in Lee Homeopathic Hospital, will be conducted at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon at the Walther home. Rev. Dr. Theodore Buch, pastor, will officiate. Burial will take place in Grandview Cemetery, under the direction of Mortician Stephen J. Conway.

FUNERAL OF ABRAHAM NOEL

Patton, March 25 - Funeral services for Abraham George Noel, aged 84, who died Tuesday at his home here will be conducted at 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon at the home of his son, Alphonse Noel of Palmer Avenue. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery.

MRS. VERNA RAMETTA

Altoona, Marcy 25 -- Mrs. Verna Rametta, aged 61, died Tuesday night at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Rosie Mazza of 902 Sixth Avenue. She was the mother of Tony Consalvo of Johnstown. Funeral services will be conducted in the Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, with burial in the church cemetery.

Milton Litzinger and Wife To Be Honored
At Family Dinner Easter

WED IN EBENSBURG

Mr. and Mrs. Milton A. Litzinger of 220 Fourth Street, Conemaugh, today are observing the 40th anniversary of their wedding. The event will be marked with a family dinner Easter Sunday at the Litzinger home.

A high mass of requiem will be sung in honor of the couple next Wednesday morning in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Conemaugh, of which the couple have been communicants for the past 39 years.

Both Mr. and Mrs. Litzinger are enjoying excellent health. The former is 65 years old and his wife is in her 64th year. Mr. Litzinger is employed as a steam craneman in the Cambria Steel Plant. He has a record of 31 years consecutive service in the local steel concern.

Milton A. Litzinger and Catherine Boring were married March 25, 1897, in the Holy Name Catholic Church, Ebensburg. Both are natives of Cambria County, Mr. Litzinger having been born and reared near Ashville, and his wife having been born in Jackson Township, near Mundy's Corner.

The Conemaugh couple are the parents of six children, as follows: Ralph Litzinger of Franklin Borough, Wilbert Litzinger of Echo, Mrs. Gertrude Grove of Vinco, Raymond Litzinger of Woodvale, Hazel Litzinger, at home, and Boyd Litzinger, a member of the Conemaugh School Board.

JOHN M'GRAW, 50, COMMITS SUICIDE

Former Gallitzin Man Found in Furnace Room
Of Bedford Hotel

Bedford, July 9 -- John McGraw, 50, a former resident of Gallitzin, committed suicide last evening by hanging himself in the basement of a local hotel, where he had been employed, according to authorities.

McGraw's body, dangling from a rafter was found in the furnace room by a chef at the hotel. McGraw had tied one end of an electrical extension cord about the rafter and formed a noose about his neck before he stepped from a box. The man had been employed at odd jobs about the hotel since May 15. Prior to that he had lived in Altoona with his sister.

The deceased was unmarried. He was a son of John and Mary McGraw and was born in Gallitzin. His father preceded him in death. Surviving are his mother, two brothers, Francis and Michael in Gallitzin and a sister who resides in Altoona.

The body has been prepared for burial by Pate & Son, local morticians and has been removed to Gallitzin, where funeral services will be conducted Monday morning. Interment will be in the Gallitzin Cemetery.

FRED HITE, AGED 59, OFFICIAL OF LILLY MINE, PASSES AWAY

Well-Known Resident Had Been Pittsburgh Patient Two Weeks

Was Father Of 15

Lilly, June 3 -- Fred Hite, aged 59, assistant mine foreman of the W. H. Piper Coal Company here, and one of Lilly's best-inown residents, died this morning in St. John's Hospital in Pittsburgh, where he had been a patient for the past two weeks. Mr. Hite's death was attributed to a complication of diseases.

He was a son of Henry and Louise (Gonsman) Hite, both deceased and was born at East Freedom on December 6, 1897. Mr. Hite was an ardent sportsman, having held membership in the Lilly Sportsmen's Association and in the Rocktown Hunting and Fishing Club. He owned several hunting trophies, including bears and deer, which he had bagged in Potter County.

Fred Hite and Mary McAtamney were married in St. Brigid's Catholic Church here in August, 1901, the ceremony being performed by Rev. Father Thomas Ryan. Mr. Hite had been a resident of Lilly for the past 40 years, and had been employed by the Piper Coal Company here for the past 32 years. He was a member of the Knights of St. George and a trustee of the local branch of the German Beneficial Union.

Surviving are his widow; a sister, Mrs. Walter Starr of Bedford; a half-brother, Joseph Stephens, a veteran of the World War, who is now a patient in the Coatesville Hospital; and the following children: Harry and Ellwood Hite, both of Pittsburgh; Bernadine Hite, at home; Camalus Hite, Pittsburgh; Colletta, James, Edith, Fred Jr., Verna, Raymond, Evelyn, Louise and Leroy, all at home, and Florence, a student nurse in St. John's Hospital in Pittsburgh. A daughter, Alice, preceded him in death.

The body has been prepared for burial by A. F. Tickerhoof, local mortician. Funeral services will be conducted at 9 o'clock Monday morning in St. Brigid's Catholic Church by Rev. Father F. P. Corcoran. Interment will be in the church cemetery.

FUNERAL OF G. W. SAXE

Blandburg, Sept. 7 -- Funeral services for George W. Saxe, a former Blandburg merchant, who died Saturday evening at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Frank L. Wharton in Cleveland, O., were conducted this afternoon in the Blandburg Lutheran Church. Interment was in the Glasgow Cemetery.

RITES TOMORROW FOR BLAIR CRISE

World War Veteran of Jones Mills Died
En Route from Ohio

Ligonier, Sept. 7 -- Obsequies for Blair Crise of Jones Mills, 38-year old World War veteran, will be held at 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon in the Donegal Methodist Church. Interment will be in the Donegal Cemetery.

Mr. Crise took ill Friday en route home from a trip to the Great Lakes Exposition in Cleveland and underwent an operation in a Pittsburgh hospital.

The deceased is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. James C. Crise of Jones Mill; his widow and a daughter, June, and two sisters, Mrs. Edward Ringler of Masaillon, O., and Mrs. William Bryan of Cook Township.

P.R.R. EMPLOYEE DIES, PNEUMONIA

William Burley in Hospital Since
September 1; Services Thursday

William Burley, 47, of 704 McMillen Street, a machinist at the Conemaugh Roundhouse of the Pennsylvania Railroad Company, died yesterday afternoon in Memorial Hospital, where he had been a patient since last Wednesday. Bronchial pneumonia was given as the cause of death.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon at the Burley home by Rev. Clyde Nevins, pastor of the Conemaugh Methodist Church. Burial will take place in Grandview Cemetery, under the direction of Mortician Frank W. Gocher.

Mr. Burley was born in Conemaugh March 9, 1890, a son of the late Alfred and Hannah (Roberts) Burley. He had been a resident of Conemaugh for many years and only recently moved to the Seventh Ward.

For approximately 25 years, he was employed by the Pennsylvania Railroad Company. Surviving are his widow, the former Laura Kissel, and these brothers and sisters: Josiah Burley, Greensburg; Mrs. Lucy Dodd, Wood Street; Mrs. Lana Davis, Echo; and Miss Theodosia Burley, Southmont. A son, Chester Burley, died in 1922.

Windber, Sept. 20 -- Mrs. Sadie Horner, aged 35, wife of Ernest Horner of Mine 37, died yesterday morning in Windber Hospital where she had been a patient for some time suffering from a complication of diseases. She was a daughter of Mr. and mrs. Elmer Stutzman.

Surviving are her husband, her father and step-mother of Johnstown, and four sons and two daughters. She was a sister of marie Stutzman, of Johnstown, mrs. Laura Rodgers, of Ogletown; Mrs. Kenneth Wissinger, of Windber; Mrs. Leo Golic, of Johnstown, and Mrs. Dorothy Lozinsky, of Altoona.

funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 o'clock tomorrow afternoon in the Scalp Level Church of the Brethren by Rev. G. E. Yoder. Interment will be in the Horner Cemetery, near Windber, under the direction of Lloyd Shank, Scalp Level mortician.

MRS. MARY C. HITE OF LILLY EXPIRES

Stricken While Preparing To Leave
To Visit Her Daughter In Hospital

Lilly, Sept. 30 -- Mrs. Mary Catherine (McAtainney) Hite, aged 56, died suddenly of a heart attack last evening while she was preparing to leave for Windber where a daughter, Miss Coletta Hite, is a patient in the hospital.

The death of Mrs. Hite is the second in the family within a period of less than four months. Her husband, Fred Hite, passed away June 3.

Mrs. Hite was a daughter of John and Rachael McAtamney, both deceased, and was born January 10, 1881 in Houtzdale. Mary Catherine McAtamney and Fred Hite were married here in 1901.

Surviving are these children: Harry, Ellwood and Camillus, all of Pittsburgh; Bernadine, Colletta, James, Edith, Fred, Verna, Raymond, Evelyn, Louise and Leroy, all at home and Florence, a student nurse in St. Joseph's Hospital in Pittsburgh. Surviving also are seven grandchildren, two brothers and one sister, Harry McAtamney of Detroit, Mich., Grant McAtamney of Lilly and Mrs. John H. Harmon of Aliquippa.

Mrs. Hite was a member of St. Brigid's Catholic Church and the Altar and Rosary Society. Funeral services will be conducted at 9 o'clock Monday morning. Interment will be in the church cemetery under the direction of A. F. Tickerhoof, local mortician.
