THE JOHNSTOWN TRIBUNE JOHNSTOWN, PA 1936   Saturday Evening, 25 Jan 1936 p. 13, c. 7 Contributed by Gordon Grening Mrs. William Rodda. Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Rodda, aged 67 years, wife of William Rodda, residing at Walsall, died at her home early this morning. Death was caused by a complication of diseases. The deceased is survived by her husband and two children, Frederick Rodda, of Johnstown, and Mrs. Tobias Wingard, of Dover, Del. A son, Charles, preceded her to the grave. She also leaves 16 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Mrs. Rodda is also survived by three sisters, Jennie and Florence Perdew and Mrs. Joseph Heikel, all of Windber, and two bothers, Oliver and Frederick Perdew. Funeral services will be held Monday morning, but all arrangements have not been completed. The Rev. Alex Weaver will conduct the services. Burial will be in the Richland Cemetery, in charge of Undertaker G. C. Meek, of Windber. Friends have been requested to please omit flowers.   17 Feb 1936 Submitted by Terry Smith MRS. MARGARET DONAHOE Mrs. Margaret Donahoe, widow of Julian Donahoe, died of pneumonia at her home, 1307 Fourth avenue at 6:45 last night. She was born in St. Augustine on December 6, 1861, a daughter of John and Margaret (McCoy) Behe. Surviving are these children: J. C. Donahoe of Juniata, Thomas F. of Patton, Mrs. James Dixon of Rockwood, O., Mrs. William Gibney, Mrs. Lester Stahl, Mrs. Harry Slagenhop, Agnes and Donald, all of this city; two brothers, Edward Behe of Pittsburg, and Joseph Behe of St. Augustine; two sisters, Rose M. Behe of Holidaysburg, and Sister Perpetua of St. John the Baptist convent, Pittsburg; 14 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was a member of S. Mary's Catholic church. Funeral arrangements have not as yet been completed.   3 Aug 1936 Contributed by Lynne Canterbury ATTEMPTED SUICIDE WITH POISON FAILS Mrs. Dora Graham, 38, wife of Capt. Patrick Graham of 1094 Louisa Street, Ferndale, was rushed to Lee Hospital last night after she drank a quantity of a powerful corrosive poison at her home. Her condition was regarded as critical following her admission to the hospital at 10:50 p.m., but a stomach pump was used and an antidote administered with the result that her condition was listed as fair today. Mrs. Graham was said to have bought the poison about a week ago, threatening at that time to end her own life. "I am going to commit suicide," she was quoted as telling her husband last night as she drang [sic] the poison. Ill health was blemed for her attempt. MATTHEW BAIN OF UNIONSTOWN, LOCAL MAN'S KILLED Funeral services for Matthew Bain of Uniontown, a brother of John A. Bain of 164 Collins Street, Prospect, who was injured fatally in an automobile collision last Wednesday, were conducted Saturday morning in St. John's Catholic Church, Uniontown. Interment was in the Dunbar Cemetery, Fayette County. Matthew Bain suffered a skull fracture last Wednesday evening with the car in which he was a passenger attempted to pass a truck near Coraopolis and crashed head-on with a car coming the opposite direction. He was removed to the Uniontown Hospital, where he died the next morning. Both drivers who were in the mishap are still patients in the Uniontown institution . Mr. Bain was en route to Clairton at the time of the accident. Matty B. Bain, only son of the victim, is deputy sheriff of Fayette County. In addition to the local brother, Mr. Bain also leaves another brother, Patrick Bain of Duquesne. Mr. and Mrs. John Bain and son, Regis, of Prospect and Mr. and mrs. John Bain, Jr., of 176 Stackhouse Street attended the services Saturday for the auto victim.   Thursday Evening, 6 Aug 1936 page 22, column 2 Contributed by Gordon Grening GROVE INFANT DIES AFTER OPERATIONM Devon Richard Grove, 18-months-old son of Crawford and Catherine (Nolan) Grove of 915 ½ Bedford Street, died at 4:20 o’clock yesterday afternoon in Memorial Hospital, where he had undergone an operation several days prior. In addition to the parents, two brothers–Preston and Raymond Grove–and a sister, Barbara Ann Grove, survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 o’clock Saturday afternoon in the Tire Hill Church of the Brethren by Rev. Arthur Rummel, pastor and Rev. J. A. Robinsorr of the Walnut Grove charge. Interment will be in Maple Springs Cemetery, under direction of the John Henderson Company.   Thursday Evening, 6 Aug 1936 page 22, column 1 Contributed by Gordon Grening MRS. KEILMAN, 41, MILO PARK DIES EBENSBURG, Aug. 6 – Mrs. Gertrude Keilman, aged 41, wife of Albert Keilman of Milo Park, near Ebensburg, died at 7:40 o’clock this morning in Memorial Hospital in Johnstown, where she underwent an operation Tuesday for gallstones. Surviving are her husband and an adopted son, Eugene Keilman. The body has been prepared for burial by Duke J. Rosenteel, local mortician.   Wednesday Evening, 21 Oct 1936 page 21, column 5 Contributed by Gordon Grening MRS. M’LAUGHLIN, GALLITZIN, DIES Wife of Burgess Had been Ill Many Months; Funeral On Saturday GALLITZIN, Oct. 21–Mrs. Marjorie (Quigley) McLaughlin, aged 69, wife of Burgess Francis J. McLaughlin of Gallitzin, died at 6 o’clock last evening at her home on Convent Street, following an illness of several months of a complication of diseases. Surviving are her husband and these children: Thomas of Pittsburgh, Francis of Wilkinsburg, Jerome of Greensburg, Mrs. Marie Stricker of Pittsburgh and Mrs. John Helman of Gallitzin. A daughter passed away several years ago. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday morning in St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. Interment will be in the church cemetery, under the direction of H. F. DUNCAN DEAD, VINTONDALE Checkweighman Expires After 10-Year Illness; Funeral Saturday VINTONDALE, Oct. 22 – George W. Duncan, aged 61, a checkweighman employed at the Vinton Collieries here, died last evening at his home after an illness of 10 years of a complication of diseases. Mr. Duncan was a son of Thomas Duncan, deceased, and Mary Jane (George) Duncan of near Strongstown and was born in Buffington Township, Indiana County, on January 23, 1875. He was twice married, his first wife being Pearl Graham, who died in 1901. To this union one son was born, Russell Duncan, who died in Strongstown on January 2, 1932. Mr. Duncan is survived by his widow, Mrs. Ella (Stiles) Duncan, and the following children, born to the second union: Charles, inter-married with Hilda Grenning of 346 Ohio Street, Johnstown; Ella Rhea, wife of Carl Carney of Seward, and Jane, wife of Francis Thomas of 365 Ohio Street, Johnstown. He also leaves five grandchildren. Mr. Duncan was a member of the I.O.O.F. Lodge at Ebensburg. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 o’clock Saturday afternoon at the Duncan home by the Rev. Large. Interment will be in the Strongstown Cemetery.
