On Wednesday, Mr. William D. Pryce and wife, of Cambria township, celebrated their golden wedding---the fiftieth anniversary of their marriage.

Mr. Joseph Farabaugh, of Carrolltown, desires us to inform the public that his picture gallary, in Carrolltown, is open every day except Thursday and Friday of each week. Give him a call.

BARR TOWNSHIP ITEMS.

Mrs. Christ Adams, who for some time past has been seriously ill, is gradually recovering.

The Kirsch brothers are at present busily engaged in erecting a new steam saw mill on the Andrew Kirsch tract.

John Peters, on Wednesday of last week, removed his family and household goods to Johnstown, where he is employed as a carpenter.

Miss Sadie Brown, of Pine township, Indiana county, was on a visit to her sister, Mrs. Laura Long, of this township, the past week.

Mrs. Henry Byrnes, of the East ward, fell on the icy pavement one day last week and was severely injured. She is slowly improving.

Mr. George Ahles, of Carroll township, passed through this place on Monday on his way to Wisconsin. He will visit a number of other States in the West and may settle permanently in one of them.

Mr. M. D. Bearer has purchased the Mrs. Sarah Davis property on Julian street for $1,800.

On Monday last S.D. Keith, of Altoona, was elected Superintendent of Schools in that city.

Mr. P. J. Little, son of W. A. B. Little, Esq., of Allegheny township, entered the office of M. D. Kittell, Esq., of this place, as a law student on Monday.

Mrs. Daniel McLaughlin, of Pittsburg, who was in town Tuesday, says Mr. McLaughlin, is lying dangerously ill with but poor hopes of recovery.--Gallitzin Vindicator.

Sam Luther was committed for trial on Monday by Alderman Easly in default of $500 bail on a charge of rape, preferred by a Mr. Sager, who is employed as a watchman at the Johnstown Chemical Works. The offense was committed last August. A warrant was issued at that time, but Luther had skipped and could not be found until he was arrested on Monday for disorderly conduct. -- Johnstown Democrat.

LOCAL AND PERSONAL

Ex-Sheriff Joseph A. Gray and Philip Dietrich, two well known citizens of Carrolltown, are both laid up with typhoid fever.

The new Catholic church at Chest Springs, will be dedicated to the service of God on Sunday next, October 12th. The sermon on the occasion will be delivered by Rev. Father Wall, of Pittsburg. The church is a handsome structure and a credit to the congregation of that place.
