Remains of Mrs. Christian Shaffer Laid to Rest in Pringle Hill.

Wilmore, Feb. 13. - The funeral of Mrs. Christian Shaffer, held on Wednesday of last week from the United Brethren Church in this place, was largely attended. Mrs. Shaffer was one of the oldest residents of Wilmore. She was born in Bedford County on March 20, 1830. When about five years of age she removed with her parents to Penn Run, Indiana County, where on the 12th of September, 1850, she was married to Christian Shaffer. To this union were born eleven children, of whom the following survive: John E., George, Sherman, Mrs. W. L. Fleck, and Mrs. George A. Davis, of Altoona; W. S. and D. W. of Conemaugh; Clark, Mrs. Wallace Sherbine, and Mrs. W. L. Simmons, of Wilmore. Christian Shaffer, the husband, twenty-five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, one sister, and two brothers also survive. At the funeral the six sons of the deceased acted as pallbearers, while the Rev. W. H. Spangler, pastor of the Wilmore U. B. Church, preached the sermon. Mrs. Shaffer was a member of the United Brethren Church for thirty-five years. Her remains were laid to rest in the Pringle Hill Cemetery.
