Souvenir of Loretto Centenary

iv

Franciscan Brothers, Loretto, for timely and appreciated assistance on the occasion of the celebration of our Centenary.

FERDINAND KITTELL.
St. Michael's Church, Loretto, Pa.
December 1, 1899.

Note. On page 76 it is stated that "the whole population of the parish ...... numbers 1234 souls." A more careful revision of the returns of the Census taken on August 15th, brings the total number up to 1326.
The "Memoranda of Rev. M. W. Gibson," page 79, were written in his old age from memory, which failed him when he stated that he was appointed pastor of Worcester, Mass., in 1843. It was not until the spring of the following year that he left Loretto, for his baptisms and marriages are recorded in his own handwriting all through the year 1843, down to February 21, 1844.
